Peaceful Pairs for Residence Life

The conflicts your RAs shouldn’t have to carry. And the ones that should reach them sooner.

Peaceful Pairs is the mediation tier before your staff: a calm, neutral AI mediator that resolves routine roommate conflicts the night they start, steps back the moment a case needs a human, and hands your existing process a documented agreement.

Priya
It’s 1am and the music is still going. I have an 8am. I’m done asking.
Pace · mediator
Priya, it sounds like this is less about one loud night and more about being able to count on quiet when it matters. Did I get that right?
Jordan
I honestly thought headphones after midnight was our deal. I didn’t know about the 8ams.

Roommate agreement

Quiet hours from 11pm on weeknights
Headphones after that; guests cleared by text

The gap every campus has

Between talk to your roommate and schedule RA mediation, students are on their own.

The direct conversation is the one students most avoid, so small conflicts simmer until they become cases. And the first mediation tier they can reach is an RA: a student themselves, untrained for it, and already overloaded. Peaceful Pairs fills the empty slot in between.

Where it fits

A tier 0 for the process you already run

Every step stays exactly where it is. It just stops absorbing the cases that never needed it.

A roommate conflict starts

Dishes. Quiet hours. Guests. The thermostat. The same high-volume conflicts, every semester.

Peaceful Pairs · Tier 0

A real mediation, the same night

Private check-ins, enforced turn-taking, a neutral facilitator that reframes blame into needs. Open 24/7, on the phones students already hold. No case file, no appointment, no waiting.

Resolved hereMost routine conflicts end at tier 0, with a written agreement both roommates confirmed.
Needs a humanIf a conversation shows signs of a safety concern or crisis, Peaceful Pairs stops mediating and points the student to your staff and crisis resources. It never pushes through.

RA mediation

Only the cases that need a person. And they start warm: the session summary and any agreement already exist, so your RA isn’t reconstructing six weeks of he-said-she-said.

fewer cases, better prepared

RD / CD review

Unchanged. Your policy and your people, with a documented mediation trail in front of them instead of two competing accounts.

Room change

Fewer conflicts ever get this far.

What tier 0 does

Three jobs, done every night

Resolves the routine

The high-volume conflicts that make up most of the caseload get a structured mediation instead of a simmering group chat. Each student takes an uninterrupted turn; no one gets talked over.

Knows when to stop

Some conflicts are not an AI’s to mediate. When a conversation shows signs it isn’t safe to continue, Peaceful Pairs steps back and directs the student toward your staff and real human help.

Documents what happened

Every session ends with a summary, and successful ones end with a written agreement both roommates confirmed. It’s the living roommate agreement your process already asks for.

What Residence Life gets

Built for how housing actually works

A facilitator with structure, in front of the process you already trust.

First contact the same night

Students get a structured conversation at 1am, when the conflict is live. Not an email answered in a couple of days.

Enforced turn-taking

One person speaks at a time, so the louder roommate can’t take over. The mediator reflects, reframes, and never takes sides.

The agreement, on file

A documented record: session summaries and confirmed agreements that a case can carry into RA mediation and beyond.

School email sign-in

Students verify their school email and are covered by your license automatically. SSO is available when your IT team wants it.

Private by design

No ads, and conversations are never sold. Each student only sees the sessions they took part in. What reaches your process is the agreement, not the transcript.

One contract, whole campus

An annual site license billed like the rest of your software. No per-student billing, no student credit cards, no procurement surprises.

FAQ

What schools ask us

Is this therapy or counseling?

No. Peaceful Pairs is a communication tool: a neutral, structured mediation between two students. It is not therapy, counseling, or medical care, and it is not a substitute for your professional staff. If a conversation shows signs that mediation isn’t what a student needs, it doesn’t push forward; it steps back and points them toward real human help.

What happens when a conflict is serious?

Peaceful Pairs doesn’t mediate cases that need a human. When a conversation shows signs of a safety concern or crisis, it stops, declines to continue, and directs the student to your staff and crisis resources. Your escalation process stays exactly as it is; Peaceful Pairs sits in front of it, not inside it.

Can staff read students’ conversations?

No. Conversations are private to the students in them, and they’re never sold. What your process receives is the artifact students bring forward: the written agreement they both confirmed, and the session summary. That keeps student trust intact, and it’s exactly the documentation your RA and RD steps already ask for.

How do students get access?

Through a campus site license. Students sign in with their school email and are covered automatically; SSO is available when your IT team wants it. Peaceful Pairs works on iPhone, Android, and the web. Every student’s first conversations are free today, so residents can try it before your campus is even set up.

What does it cost?

One annual site license per campus, billed by contract like the rest of your software. No per-student billing and no student credit cards. Pricing depends on your residential population; the demo covers it, along with what a single-hall pilot looks like if you’d rather start small.
