Peaceful Pairs is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1‑800‑799‑7233, or call your local emergency number.
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Peaceful Pairs. By creating an account or using the Peaceful Pairs app or website, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 years of age or older to use Peaceful Pairs. By using the service, you confirm that you are at least 18 and able to enter into this agreement.
3. The service
Peaceful Pairs is a communication and relationship-wellness tool in which an AI facilitator, Pace, helps two people talk through a topic together, or helps one person reflect on their own. Pace is artificial intelligence, not a person. It is not a therapist, counselor, doctor, lawyer, or licensed mediator, and nothing in the service is medical, legal, or financial advice.
Peaceful Pairs is not therapy, counseling, or medical care, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. Conversations are not legally privileged or HIPAA-protected. The service is not an emergency service and cannot respond to emergencies; in a crisis, contact the resources listed at the top of this page.
4. Your account
- Provide accurate information when you sign up, and keep your sign-in credentials secure.
- Your account is for you personally; do not share it or let someone else use it.
- You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact [email protected].
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app or at peacefulpairs.com/delete-account.
5. Acceptable use
Use Peaceful Pairs respectfully and lawfully. You agree not to:
- use the service to harass, threaten, deceive, or harm another person, including the other participant in a conversation;
- invite someone into a conversation without their knowledge and consent, or impersonate another person;
- use the service for any unlawful purpose, or to violate someone else's rights;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service, other users' data, or the systems behind them, or to probe, disrupt, or overload them;
- scrape the service or use it to build a competing dataset or product; or
- resell the service or provide it to third parties without permission.
Peaceful Pairs may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
6. Conversations with another person
- In a two-person session, both participants can see the shared conversation, including the messages you send. Your private goal is never shown to the other person.
- If you delete your account, messages you already sent into a shared conversation remain in the other participant's copy, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Only invite people who are 18 or older and who agree to participate.
7. Subscriptions and billing
- Free use. Your first solo reflection and your first live two-person mediation are free.
- Peaceful Pairs Plus. A single subscription unlocks unlimited sessions for the subscriber; anyone invited into a conversation joins at no charge. It is billed monthly or yearly, at the price shown at checkout, and payments are handled securely by a third-party payment processor.
- Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings in the app, which opens the billing portal; your plan then stays active until the end of the current billing period, and you will not be charged again.
- Price changes. If subscription prices change, you will be given advance notice, and the new price will apply from your next billing period after the notice.
- Schools and organizations. If your school or organization provides Peaceful Pairs, your access is also subject to its arrangement with Peaceful Pairs and may end when that arrangement ends.
- App stores. If you purchase through an app store, that store's payment terms also apply.
8. Your content
You own the messages and other content you submit. You grant Peaceful Pairs a limited license to store, process, and transmit that content solely to operate the service - including sending it to third-party AI providers to generate Pace's replies and run the automated safety check, as described in the Privacy Policy. Peaceful Pairs does not sell your content or use it to train any AI model of its own. You are responsible for the content you submit and for having the right to share it.
9. AI-generated content
Pace's replies, summaries, titles, and suggested agreements are generated by AI. They can be inaccurate, incomplete, or a poor fit for your situation. Use your own judgment, and do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions. Suggested agreements are informal aids to your conversation, not legal contracts. If a Pace message seems harmful or wrong, you can report it from within the app.
10. Intellectual property
The Peaceful Pairs service - including its software, design, name, and logo - belongs to Peaceful Pairs and its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any rights in it other than the right to use the service as intended.
11. Termination
You can stop using Peaceful Pairs or delete your account at any time. Peaceful Pairs may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if the service is discontinued; where reasonable, notice will be given. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as Sections 8, 10, 12, and 13) survive it.
12. Disclaimers
Peaceful Pairs is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Peaceful Pairs disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Peaceful Pairs does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate, and makes no medical or therapeutic claims.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Peaceful Pairs will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service. The total liability of Peaceful Pairs for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Changes to these Terms
If a material change is made to these Terms, the date above will be updated and you will be notified (by email or an in-app notice) before it takes effect. Continuing to use Peaceful Pairs after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Contact
